how bout something super nerdy?
We feel like you probably need something nerdy on your arm.
how bout a horror piece?
And if not something nerdy, then you definitely need something horrific.
Meet the Outpost 76 team
The Outpost 76 team goes beyond Mike and his talents. The rest of the shop family is admittedly a bit fluffier, but a part of the family just the same. Thorne and Finch might not actually be in the shop, but Mike will gladly show you photos.

Meet Poopbird
Mike “Poopbird” Groves is an old school Athens, Georgia tattoo artist from the days of soldering needles, tracing paper, and coil machines.
Shortly after graduating from the UGA Lamar Dodd School of Art with a BFA in Painting, Mike began a tattoo apprenticeship under Todd “Radar” Gregg. He spent two full years learning the industry, mastering health and safety, making needles, taking machines apart, putting them back together, and practicing tons and tons (and tons). He began tattooing as a resident artist at Pain and Wonder Tattoo and Piercing in 2000.
Even with tattooing as a full-time gig, Mike continued to create in a wide variety of media beyond skin. In 2019, Mike unveiled a series of three designer toys with Sideshow and Unruly Industries. In 2023, he was asked to participate in the Sideshow’s Human Cyborg Relations: The C-3PO™ Custom Bust Art Show where he debuted “This Is Madness.” He has shown at galleries all across the country including Chicago, Illinois; New Orleans, Louisiana; and, of course, Athens, Georgia.
Today, Mike tattoos at Outpost 76, his private studio in Athens’s Chase Street Warehouses, creates large-scale paintings and custom commissions, and sends subscribers monthly doses of Poopbird via his Sticker of the Month club. When he’s not tattooing, he’s playing a four-hour board game, chasing his two cats, and traveling the world with his super hot girlfriend.
